How do you handle a hungry ham? Welcome to Feedline -- dedicated to fine radio club food and drink from around the globe and down the lane. Here's a slice of the good life as lived by the Florida Contest Group, with kind permission from FCG Contester editor Fred, K4LQ. If there were a contest for prettiest BBQ QTH, this sun-dappled sweet spot beneath the Spanish Moss would surely be a major contender. Location? Camp Grace in Basinger, Florida. Occasion? FCG's 2nd Annual Spring Picnic. Attendees included AA4HP and K4MVO, AI4QY, K1PT and KD1BG and Suda, XYL of N3RD, K1TO, K4LQ and Sheila, K4PB, K5KG and Kay and K9 Winnie (the poodle), K8NZ and KC8FOD, K9ES and Sylvia and 2 grandkids, KF4FSU, KG4SBS and XYL, KI4JKO, KI4VBO, KK4TA, N4CJ(G4BUE) and M0BUE, N4GI, N4TB, N4TO, W2OX and Alice, W3TB, W4AMS and nephew (Cito?), W4DKB and W4STB, W4JN and son WP2C, W4KPG, W4SAA. You'll notice the chef wearing his Dash! The Dog-Faced Ham colors (his people coordinated with our people). And who wouldn't have the appetite of an Indians fan when confronted by such a savory spectacle? Although if that were our plate, we'd reserve a couple of acres for potato salad and corn on the cob if only to mix it up. But that's just us Yankee fans. Now what's a Spring Picnic without pun and games? At Camp Grace gatherings it's customary to ask someone seated under the trophies to stand and move slightly. At this point the group is asked how the person looks with a little moose in his hair. Alex, W2OX/V47KP rose to the occassion, among others. And yes, dear reader, all parties involved are well-aware the trophies are not moose or mousse but in fact caribou, so don't flip your wig or have a cow, so to speak. We don't quibble over ungulates here, especially at the expense of jokes so bad you just can't tell them too much. Tnx to Fred K4LQ and all the good sports of FCG! |

If you're new to Dash! and didn't catch our exotic Feedline Premiere -- spotlighting South African BBQ as practiced by the FB Vrystaat ops of Sasolburg Radioklub -- click here now for a treat, because in addition to all the exrtraordinary grub and grog, you'll see sizzling sketchwork by Malcolm, ZS4SM. Too, think about sharing your club's fare. We're keen on regional and local specialities, stuff you rustle-up yourselves and might intrigue, entice or confound an outlander ham who fell to Earth at your next club feed. Remember, this is not limited to BBQ, pictures of all food & friends with calls and handles please are most welcome and our threat about posting Dash's Albacore Wiggle recipe is not idle. Avert that worst case scenario by sending submissions to k1nss@dashtoons.com. Bone appetite! |
