Our story begins when Dash! and I stumbled across this roughed-up diamond on a recent tramp about the Dashville, New York estate of his late Great Uncle Hiham.

First glance suggested the aluminum trailer was of later 1960s or early 1970s vintage, but Dash! quickly grew suspicious.

Sure enough, after we cleared the brambles and poison ivy, shooed the raccoons and brown recluse spiders, closer examination of certain enigmatic rune-like stampings on the silver sausage's forward crossmember betrayed a most astonishing yet curiously-compelling provenance.

Here, lost in old growth arboreal obscurity, was a 1938 Concept Land Yacht, rumored to have been "assembled"(some insiders hint reverse-engineered)
by Airstream's apocryphal hush-hush top-secret Groom Lake Custom Shop deep in the Nevada desert, fully ten years before DOD officials "urged" that its fabled facilities be sold to a local fabricator of fine aluminum ventilation ducts and the occasional advanced reconnaissance aircraft.

Three such Land Yacht prototypes were allegedly built as a joint black project with up-and-comer Hallicrafters, both firms intent on establishing defense communications bona fides through a strategic partnership targeting elite amateur radio operators in higher echelons of the federal government, armed services and hobbyist fraternal organizations judged to be in the National Interest. And at that time, it didn't get more over the top than Great Unca Hiham himself.
